About this standard
This unit standard is for people who work in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) industry, installing, servicing, modifying, or dismantling equipment containing Ozone Depleting Refrigerants (ODRs) or Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGGs). People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of stratospheric ozone and its role in the atmosphere; demonstrate knowledge of the effect of refrigerants on the atmosphere., demonstrate knowledge of ozone layer protection legislation and codes of practice; identify OD substances and SGGs used as refrigerants and describe safe methods of identification; and demonstrate knowledge of procedures to reduce ODR and SGG emissions in refrigeration and air conditioning practice.
