NZQA Level 4 Standards & Courses
Browse NZQA Level 4 standards and bundled courses across mechanical engineering, engineering fabrication, refrigeration and air conditioning, mechanical building services, CNC and other specialist trade areas. These options often relate to trade-level or technically advanced workplace tasks.
Employers and learners can purchase an individual standard for one specific requirement or choose a structured course bundle where several related skills need to be developed together. Already have the skills? Assessment-only options allow eligible learners to gain recognised NZQA credit for skills they can already demonstrate without completing unnecessary training. Tutor-supported options provide structured learning where further development is required.

What’s Included In This NZQA Level 4 Collection
Standards may cover:
- advanced machining
- mechanical maintenance
- fabrication trade practice
- steel construction
- commercial and industrial refrigeration
- HVAC commissioning
- mechanical building services systems
- CNC programming and operation
- planning and production efficiency
- specialist technical processes
Many Level 4 options require established workplace knowledge, practical demonstration or evidence from relevant tasks. Review each listing for prerequisites, credit value, delivery format and equipment access before enrolling.
Individual standards can close an advanced skills gap, while bundled courses can provide a coordinated sequence across related topics. They may suit experienced employees developing a specialist area or businesses preparing staff for new technical responsibilities.
Completing one Level 4 standard or bundle does not automatically provide a Level 4 qualification. Full programmes and apprenticeships remain essential where the objective is complete trade development and the relevant New Zealand Certificate.
Browse the NZQA Level 4 standards or choose a bundled course where several related technical skills need to be developed. You can also narrow your search through the Mechanical Engineering collection and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning collection.
